The studies regarding the health benefits of black seed oil are considered to be limited, however, there are a few research conducted that show promising results.

The seed oil is said to help in relieving symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

According to coordinated research last 2016, the black seed oil has potential health benefits specifically in relieving rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. The said research was published in Immunological Investigations, and it was conducted by asking 43 women who are experiencing rheumatoid arthritis during that time. They were asked to take one capsule of black seed oil per day for a whole month. The result of the study was a great decrease in the patients’ rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, plus the inflammation of the joints have surprisingly lessened.

It may be used as treatment against allergies, specifically allergic rhinitis

A study that was conducted last 2011 has provided results on how the seed oil can be used against allergic rhinitis. Based on the study, the use of seed oil has contributed to relieving allergic rhinitis symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing.

The oil may provide healing effects against diabetes.

The study that was published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine last 2015 has shown results on how black seed oil is effective in battling diabetes. They have seen that the extracts from Nigella sativa plants can lower levels of blood sugar and cholesterol, however, these are only tested by using models similar to diabetes in general and are not yet tested in humans. Therefore, further studies are needed to prove that the oil is indeed useful for treating diabetes.

Symptoms of asthma may be easier to control by consuming black seed oil.

There are also studies conducted to show how the seed oil may take effect in patients who suffer from asthma. Black seed oil may be effective in preventing obesity.

The seed oil was given to women who are at risk of getting obese. The women were grouped into two, wherein the first group was asked to take black seed oil together with a low-calorie diet while the second group was given placebo supplements and was asked to eat low-calorie foods; both groups were asked to do what they were told for eights weeks.

The result for the first group who were asked to take black seed oil was improved weight loss with a decrease in their waistlines, also their triglyceride levels were lower compared to the other group who took a placebo.

The black seed oil may work against certain skin conditions.

The oil of the black seed is added to skin products like moisturizers so they can be topically applied to the skin; specifically, the face, where it can work its magic in fighting off the possible development of acne.

Known as a chronic skin disease that shows and disappears without notice, psoriasis appears as problematic patches on the skin that are most of the time itchy or painful. However, when the use of black seed oil was tested against psoriasis, the result has shown a lesser incident of developing psoriasis. They may also be effective as a treatment for the said skin condition.

Since the seed oil is mostly added to lotions and skin moisturizers, they are said to possess qualities that can help maintain the youthful glow of the skin. Plus, studies have shown that they somehow contribute to better moisture and hydration of the skin.

Almost all of the health benefits of seed oil are already proven to true, thus making them safe for consumption. But there are also possibilities that the oil can damage organs like the liver and kidneys when used in excessive amounts.
