Maltitol has a lot of uses. It can be used as a flavoring for sweets, dishes, baked goodies and many more. Maltitol can also be used in the medical field. Maltitol also helps in improving the quality of your food. It helps in adding a bit more lifespan to your food and keeps it from turning brown or spoilt easily. This sweetener is rarely used as it is and is frequently mixed with other substances to extract a worthwhile use for it.

Maltitol can go by many names either as xylitol, sorbitol or just simply sugar alcohol. Be wise when checking on labels of products and remember that Maltitol can go as many names as mentioned in the preceding sentence.

People with diabetes or with any sugar-related disease still need to take precaution in using maltitol as a substitute for sugar. They have to consult with their doctors first if maltitol is absolutely safe to use as a sugar substitute and if it is, what is the supposed usage of this substance.

2. Usage of Maltitol Can At time be Bad For Your Gut

Maltitol is still sugar and consuming lots of it can lead to a bad gut or worse a severe case of gut inflammation. Careful dosage and treating it like sugar should be of your priority. It really depends on how your body is going to take maltitol. So if I were you, take it to an easy pace intake.

There is still no reported serious illness, condition or syndrome that can be linked to maltitol but please take caution when you are dead set on using this product.

The erythritol is a friendly version of maltitol. This is because erythritol has a minor calorie than. The lesser calorie content of erythritol makes it possible for erythritol not to cause any problems with sugar-related illnesses.

Agave and the Other Alternatives

Agave is another alternative for sugar. It is also a natural sweetener on itself, but it can still be mixed with other sweeteners if manufacturers want to achieve a sort of texture, taste, or after taste of it. Agave is one of your highest sources of fructose. Fructose is usually found in fruits.

Your other natural sweeteners can be honey, maple syrup, and molasses. Most of these natural sweeteners have fructose on them since they are on their own, organic. They have a high-calorie content as your regular white sugar so if you are concerned about that, its best to leave these natural sweeteners alone.
